Product details
The Hultafors Wetterhall throwing axe is a type of double-bit axe that was originally used by lumberjacks. One side was used for rough work and the other for fine work. Today, the axe is primarily used in competitions among enthusiasts as a throwing axe. It is named after the blacksmith Wetterhall, who worked longer than anyone else at Hults Bruk. Hultafors axes have been traditionally manufactured in Sweden since 1697. This craftsmanship combined with blacksmithing results in a premium product that can be used for generations. The axe is hand-forged in Hults Bruk in Östergötland, Sweden, and made from Swedish quality steel. The steel head is struck 40-60 times to increase the density and durability of the head. The blacksmithing profession is a craft and a tradition that has often been passed down from father to son over generations. The longevity of the product is also supported by the American hickory wood handle. The hickory handle is additionally impregnated with linseed oil for a long life. The throwing axe comes with a leather blade guard, and the edge is sharpened, polished, and ready for use. Important: We have long debated whether it is beneficial to include this axe in our range. With the necessary care, this sporting equipment can be enjoyable, or the forester can use the Wetterhall as a traditional working tool. We definitely do not recommend the Hultafors Wetterhall throwing axe for purchase by youth and youth organizations. With Hultafors, you are buying handcrafted, sustainable top quality from Sweden.
