The Gränsfors American Felling Axe features the proven axe head and handle length of lumberjacks and log cabin workers from days gone by. The broad blade is finely honed and has a small wedge angle. The 12 cm long edge is carefully tempered and sharpened, and with a head weight of 1500 g, the axe penetrates deeply and forcefully into the wood with a single strike. The double-curved handle made from high-quality hickory wood allows for fatigue-free work. The relatively smooth handle lets the axe glide easily through the hand during use. The longer shaft compared to splitting axes offers great reach flexibility and provides a good swing. An axe is only as good as its blacksmith - all axes made by Gränsfors Bruk are hand-forged. The steel used comes from Ovako and is exclusively sourced from recycled scrap metal. The steel has been specially developed for creating the perfect axe head. It is neither too hard, too soft, nor too flexible.
