The electronic rain sensor takes natural precipitation into account during automatic irrigation. Irrigation will not start if it is raining at the time the irrigation is scheduled to begin. Furthermore, irrigation will be stopped if it starts to rain during the process. The opto-electronic operating principle ensures a quick response to incoming precipitation, thus saving water from the mains or cistern. The rain sensor can be inserted into the soil next to the plants with a spike or placed on a solid surface. The electronic rain sensor comes with a 5 m connection cable and plug. A 9 V alkaline battery is required for operation (not included), which provides reliable measurement results for about a year.
