Even the ancient Vikings achieved impressive successes with a powerful axe. So why should one seek a completely new concept when developing a new axe? Designer Elmar Roush had the same thought while working on the design of the CRKT Freyr Axe: instead of a new, more modern shape, he opted for the typical long blade that was also found on Viking axes. After all, there’s no need to reinvent a concept that has proven itself over thousands of years. The head of the Freyr Axe is made from particularly robust 1055 carbon steel, which undergoes an elaborate surface treatment. For the sturdy handle, high-quality Tennessee hickory premium wood is used. The result is an impressive piece of solid craftsmanship that no true craftsman should miss.
