I would compare it to the volume of a mobile hand hoover. Maybe not even that loud. So it's quite bearable.

Interesting scale. I would say the pump is about as loud as a pan flute player in a subway.
No, seriously, the thing is about as loud as a hoover.

I would say it is something between a running sewing machine and a hoover. When you pump, you are very close to the machine (arm's length away), which is why I find the pump loud. However, if you are 1-2 metres away, the noise is more in the range of a sewing machine.
