Can I use it on the Aare or Lake Thun without any problems? Do I need life jackets or do I have to mark the boat?

Marking YES, swimming aids in the canton of ZH too. I can't say what the situation is in AG or BE. If you have children with you, I would recommend it, otherwise according to local regulations.
