Product details
The new Ortles Master cord sets new standards in alpine climbing and technical mountaineering: it combines a high breaking strength of over 15 kilonewtons (kN) with high UV resistance and low weight.
The hybrid construction combines robust polyamide in the sheath with a core made of polyethylene, which has a high molecular weight (UHMW). This material – also known as high-strength PE for simplicity – is lighter and simultaneously stronger than steel and Kevlar. This combination provides exceptional strength while still allowing for excellent knotability.
The pre-cut 6 millimeter cord comes with sealed, rounded ends and is versatile: it can be used as a Prusik loop, for building anchors, for rappelling, as well as for threading sand timers or setting up a pulley system.
The special Salewa color coding, which is also used in the Ortles Dyneema sling, ensures easy handling: the uniform color system in green, blue, red, and gray allows for immediate recognition of lengths and proper selection while climbing.
