Product details
After more than two years of development, the Maxxis Assegai is finally here. Greg Minnaar's signature tire embodies the essence of his 30 years of racing experience and Maxxis's expertise from over 50 years of tire production. The Assegai is a combination of the Minion DHF, Minion DHR II, and the HighRoller, designed using the best Maxxis profiles.
Dual compound: Two different rubber compounds are processed into a tread strip. The arrangement of the compounds is planned according to the desired characteristics of the tire.
Exo Protection: This extremely cut- and abrasion-resistant material protects the sidewall of various MTB tires. It is tightly woven, lightweight, and very flexible, ensuring that the tire's performance remains impressively good.
Tubeless tires offer many advantages: You can ride with lower air pressure, resulting in better traction and reduced rolling resistance. And where there is no tube, the risk of punctures decreases. Maxxis TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealant than other "Tubeless Ready" tires. The bead of the TR tires is completely covered with a rubber layer, just like a true UST tubeless tire. This makes tubeless mounting successful on all standard-sized rims right from the first inflation and with minimal liquid.
The Wide Trail construction optimizes the tread layout and tire shape for today's modern wider rims. Traditional tires are designed for narrow rims and take on too angular a shape on wide rims, which negatively affects performance. All Maxxis WT tires are optimized for an inner rim width of 35 mm but perform excellently on all rims with an inner measurement between 30 and 39 mm.
Dense carcass fabric: 60 TPI. Tire size: ETRTO in mm: 63 - 622. Compound: 3C MaxxTerra Compound.
