Product details
After over two years of development, the Maxxis Assegai is finally available. Greg Minnaar's signature tire combines his 30 years of racing experience with the expertise of Maxxis, which has over 50 years of tire production. The Assegai is a blend of the Minion DHF, Minion DHR II, and the HighRoller, designed using proven Maxxis profiles. This extremely cut- and abrasion-resistant material protects the sidewalls of various MTB tires. It is tightly woven, lightweight, and flexible, ensuring that the tire performance remains impressively consistent.
Two different rubber compounds are processed into a tread strip, with the arrangement of the compounds planned according to the desired tire characteristics. Tubeless tires offer many advantages: you can ride with lower air pressure, resulting in better traction and reduced rolling resistance. Additionally, the risk of punctures decreases since there is no inner tube. Maxxis TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealant than other tubeless-ready tires. The bead of the TR tires is completely covered with a rubber layer, making tubeless installation successful on all standard-sized rims right from the first inflation with minimal sealant.
The Wide Trail construction optimizes the tread layout and tire shape for modern wider rims. Traditional tires are designed for narrow rims and take on a too-angular shape when mounted on wide rims, which affects performance. All Maxxis WT tires are optimized for an inner rim width of 35 mm but perform excellently on all rims with an inner measurement between 30 and 39 mm. E-bike compatibility: without manufacturer recommendation.
