Product details

Ice tool for demanding ice and mixed climbing as well as technical mountaineering. Ice climbing in steep and challenging terrain, delicate hooks on fine tube structures and flower ice, along with energy-saving, precise placements with every swing – these are the specialties of the DMM Apex ice tool.

The heavily curved shaft ensures that the pick finds enough grip even in overhanging flower ice. It is rubberized at the bottom and features two hand rests that allow for different grip positions and hand changes on the tool. For those who prefer to use wrist loops, these can be attached to the head of the tool.

When striking into the ice, the Apex offers excellent balance and substantial pull, thanks in part to the additional weights already mounted on the pick. These weights can be easily removed for mixed climbing and dry tooling. The interchangeable system for the pick, shovel, and hammer head provides high versatility. The pick and shaft meet the standards for Type 2 tools, allowing for significant leverage while climbing without the risk of breaking the tool.

Key features at a glance:

  • Type 2 ice tool with a heavily curved shaft
  • Suitable for ice and mixed climbing
  • Modular system with extensive customization options
  • Equipped with ice pick
  • Available with either a hammer or shovel.
