Castelli Cold Days 2nd Layer

Maximum insulation and moisture management for riding in cold conditions, as an intermediate layer between a base layer and a jacket. The Polartec Alpha material provides excellent insulation - soft, stretchy and lightweight. A few years ago, Casteli thought it would be great as a base layer, but it felt rather damp and clammy against the skin. However, when they were looking for more thermal protection for gravel rides in sub-zero temperatures, they tried the Alpha prototypes as a second layer over a Prosecco base layer - and found the perfect combination for cold rides. Casteli worked on the details and perfected this second layer for cold days. They have equipped it with a half-length zip so that it is not too bulky in the stomach area. The zip has also been slightly offset to avoid multiple zips meeting at the neck. Casteli has kept the fit close to the body so you have the choice of tucking it into your tights or wearing it over them. They have also found that they work well over a Flanders, Bandito, Miracolo or Seamless baselayer.
