In 1974, Ben Aipa, the legendary Hawaiian surfer and shaper, made surfboard history with the development of "Da Sting," a fast-turning shape he first crafted for Larry Bertleman. "I watched him at the Lighthouse and could see what he was trying to do... I knew the future belonged to him, so I went back to the shop and imagined what kind of board dynamics he would need to achieve the maneuvers he was attempting," said Ben. How perfect it is that we collaborated with the Aipa family to develop a Carver surfskate model that allows for the same quick turns and pumping maneuvers we created for skateboards in 1996. The clear Sugarcoat grip features the classic blue flames, one of the most iconic airbrush designs in surfboard history.
