Approval of a boat: In principle, all boats operating on public waters require a boating license and a registration number. Boats under 4 m in length, pedal boats, beach and similar non-motorized boats, kayaks, racing boats, and sailboats that operate in flowing waters, canals, or according to ONI 42 in the inner bank zone or at a distance of no more than 150 m from other boats are exempt from the marking requirement according to Article 16, paragraph 1 of the regulation on navigation in Swiss waters. All Ochsner Sports boats must not be registered or equipped with a motor.

Boats and UAS that are not to be registered must still be clearly marked with the name and address of the owner.

As of January 2020, it is mandatory to carry a rescue device (collar or life jacket) for every person on board in waterways.
