Tower fans have a greater risk of tipping over than table models. I think paws and little fingers are not in danger, the blades are close together. What is very important to remember is that such oscillating devices (rotating from left to right) also make quite a noise over time. Because such back and forth movements are also audible. You should also not expect too much from the cool tower design, because being blown directly by a fan is not necessarily a risk-free thing. Instead, I recommend a room air circulator, which allows the air to circulate throughout the room without direct draughts and ensures an even temperature throughout the room in summer and winter and, thanks to the circulation, a gentle breeze that is not disturbing and cannot cause any health problems. My favourite for room air circulators is the Vornado, its grille is so narrow that a paw or a child's finger can't get in anywhere and they are also available as table models, so you can put them on a sideboard, for example. They can transport air up to 23 m and are very quiet in operation. Vornado 633 (54 W)

Helpful answer

Hello Digitalus, it's similar for me, the 'air slots' in the front and rear areas can be cleaned easily, as can the 'intake duct', for example with a hoover or 'feather duster'. On the other hand, the unit cannot be opened. The upper section alone is fixed at the back with at least eight (Phillips) screws, so the 'fan' is not easily accessible. But even after one year with an average of about five operating hours/day (during about five months so far), I can't notice any noticeable dirt that would impair operation. I hope this helps you, bye.
