The pieces in the GOGAIN series are made of stoneware with a craquelé glaze.This glazing technique, developed in Asia in the 16th century, is done entirely by hand in China. To achieve the craquelé effect, the ceramics are immersed in water immediately after firing. The considerable thermal shock results in cracks and a kind of metallic look to the colours.The colour, crack pattern and final shape of a piece of tableware depend on the temperature, firing time, glaze thickness and application method.
The glaze, which is applied entirely by hand, makes each piece unique and adorns every table.
