Special nutritional needs due to specific characteristics

The West Highland White Terrier is one of the dog breeds that often suffers from skin problems, often as early as puppyhood. Proper nutrition can play an important role in strengthening the skin's natural defenses.

Although Westies often lack premolars, their teeth are closely spaced in the jaw. Therefore, preventing plaque buildup is particularly important.

Weather influences such as heat, humidity, and UV radiation can dull the bright white of their coat.

Westies are often very selective when it comes to food choices.

Heart muscle function
Magnesium, sodium, potassium, arginine, EPA and DHA, taurine, L-carnitine, and antioxidants (vitamin E and C, polyphenols from grapes and green tea) support the contraction strength of the heart muscle.

Highest acceptance
Selected nutrients ensure the highest acceptance for picky Westies.

Skin protection
Strengthens the skin's barrier function thanks to unsaturated fatty acids from flaxseed (ALA), borage oil (GLA), fish oil (EPA and DHA), and a special skin complex.

Tartar prevention
Sodium phosphates capture calcium present in saliva, preventing it from being available for tartar formation.

A radiant white coat
The coat of the West Highland White Terrier is rather harsh, with short, soft underfur, and it shines in brilliant white. Unlike the Maltese or Bichon Frisé, which completely lack color pigments in their fur, known as melanins, the Westie has remnants of these pigments in highly diluted form, meaning that genetically, the Westie is not pure white. In cases of congenital insufficient dilution of the color pigments, the coat may take on a slightly yellowish hue, especially on the back. Weather influences such as heat, humidity, and UV radiation can also dull the bright white of the hair.
