We have received feedback in the past reporting the same problem, but not with this model. During tests by the manufacturer's technical department, it was found that cat fur can accumulate on the top of the draught excluder. This can cause the flap to remain permanently in operating mode and the batteries to discharge more quickly as a result. We therefore recommend checking the top of the draught excluder for fur residue and removing it if necessary. Under normal conditions, the battery life is approx. 12 months.

Good evening, the Pet-Safe from Staywell fits into the existing opening of the old Pet-Safe flaps. Had the first Staywell flap installed over 25 years ago and upgraded to the latest version with microchip reader a year ago. The installation was no problem, everything fitted perfectly. Regarding the exact dimensions of the opening, the installation instructions can be downloaded from the www.
