Why do I need a bridge and 2(!) dimmers if I can control the BT bulbs via the app? When will the W&C Ambiance BT bulbs be available as a single or double pack?
This bundle is intended to serve as a starter kit. If you want to use routines or light bulbs from other (cheaper) manufacturers, there is no getting around a bridge. This connects to the internet via an Ethernet cable in order to check the time or to be switched on or off while on the move. The Hue bridge communicates with the light bulbs and switches via Zigbee. Since Zigbee is a public radio protocol, other manufacturers can develop lamps that are compatible with Hue and are controlled in the Hue app in the same way as any other Phillips lamp.
Other pros of the bridge:
-Stable connection
-Connect up to 50 lamps (via Bluetooth only 10)
-Other control apps available
The two switches are probably meant for a room with multiple inputs or outputs. You may not always have a smartphone at hand and the programmable switches are a great addition.
