I have both version 2 and 3 and view them as totally different products. Version 2 has the light coming forward, and as you said it can be angled. Version 3 has the light coming out of the sides, so it’s perfect for lighting the wall and floor and not blinding you at night. I use both in my house, and both are useful in different situations.
