Violan seat cushion for Eames Side Chair. For the first time, Metz Textil & Design is breaking with its own tradition - but the company from Aschau am Inn is doing so firstly for a good innovative reason and secondly with the best of green consciences: instead of using real wool felt, Metz Textil & Design is relying on Violan, a purely vegetable felt developed through years of tinkering. The material feels just as high-quality as soft merino wool felt, but is made from plant residues and wood fibers. As a seat cushion, the felt is sewn in two layers with decorative stitching so that the cushion can be used on both sides. Equipped with a cushioning lining, the cushion has a good grip, but because of this it can be hand washed at 30 ° C only. In this specially cut shape, the formidable seat cushion fits the always the same seat shell from the original Eames Side Chair.
