The famous café chair is an icon and is still considered the most successful industrial product in the world: it marked the beginning of the history of modern furniture. The foundation was a new technique for bending solid wood, perfected by Michael Thonet in the 1850s, which made mass production possible. There was also a brilliant distribution idea: 36 disassembled chairs were packed into a one-cubic-meter box, shipped around the world, and assembled on-site. With its clear, reduced aesthetics, this classic has found its place in a variety of environments for over 150 years. It is produced in our factory in Frankenberg.
