Product details
Bookworm Bookshelf. The famous Bookworm by Ron Arad for Kartell turns books into a unique art form, even during reading breaks. The support beams of these shelves are mounted on a flexible base that can be attached to the wall in any shape. The design possibilities are (almost) limitless. The manufacturer Kartell even explicitly recommends a curvy arrangement of the shelves to take advantage of the material tensions created in the thermoplastic technopolymer for increased stability—allowing each element of the bookshelf to hold up to 10 kg. The creator of the Kartell Bookworm bookshelf, Ron Arad, was born in 1951 in Tel Aviv, moved to London in 1973 to complete his architecture studies, and has been making waves in product design since the early 1980s by combining playful forms with advanced materials. Ron Arad rejects any categorization of his work—and thus the title "designer"—and skillfully navigates between commerce and art with this philosophy.
