I have an APC UPS unit and have lost the original USB to RJ-45 cable. Can the PC communicate with the UPS unit this way (RJ-45 goes to the UPS unit and then a USB to USB cable to the PC)?

I don't know! It doesn't work for what I wanted either. 4 wires are occupied. 1,2,3,6. I can send you one to test.
