I am not technically gifted at all, hence my perhaps somewhat clumsy question.

I use a Google Chromecast to watch TV with which I have transferred the programme that was running on my mobile phone to the TV until now. The TV has slowly become obsolete, but I have now bought a large desktop screen for my home office, but unfortunately it doesn't have any boxes. The signal can still be sent to the screen, but now I no longer have sound.

Can I use this extractor to connect the screen to speakers so that I can extract the audio signal that is sent to the Chromecast (which is connected to the screen)?

Yes, that works. However, you hang the part BETWEEN the Chromecast and the monitor. And you also need a power supply via USB for the part, but some monitors now have this.
