The LC connector is a high-performance fibre optic connector for singlemode and multimode applications and impresses with its low insertion loss. It is one of the most common fibre optic connector types. The design of the LC connector is based on a single-fibre ceramic ferrule with a diameter of 1.25 mm for an optical fibre. Due to its compact design, the LC connector allows a high packing density, which is why it is often used for fibre optic switches. In connectors with the addition APC, the end face is not only crowned, but the normal of the fibre end face is also tilted by a few degrees to the fibre axis. Due to this design, reflected light from the core is refracted out into the air via the jacket glass and can thus no longer interfere with data transmission.
