The LC connector is a high-performance fiber optic connector for singlemode and multimode applications, characterized by low insertion loss. It is one of the most common types of fiber optic connectors. The design of the LC connector is based on a single-fiber ceramic ferrule with a diameter of 1.25 mm for a fiber optic cable. Due to its compact design, the LC connector allows for high packing density, making it frequently used in fiber optic switches. For connectors with the APC designation, the end face is not only convex but also the normal of the fiber end face is tilted by a few degrees relative to the fiber axis. This design allows reflected light from the core to be refracted into the air through the cladding, thereby preventing interference with data transmission.
