Questions about Vention VGA to HDMI Converter Cable

Hello I have a monitor with a VGA connector and my new PC no longer has this connector. Is this now the right product so that I can connect my monitor to the PC. Thank you very much for your answer. Elisabeth

Can I use this adapter to connect my laptop (HDMI output + HDMIm - HDMIm cable) to my projector (VGA input)? If not, where can I find a suitable HDMIw input to VGAm output adapter?

I ordered this adapter to connect a laptop (VGA) to a TV (HDMI). Test PC to TV: VGA to VGA and VGA to HDMI with adapter works perfectly, i.e. PC output and adapter cable are OK. Laptop to TV: VGA to VGA works without problems - VGA to HDMI via adapter does NOT work! VGA output seems OK, but why do I have no picture - did I miss a setting in the laptop?
