I can't tell you what the difference is, but I have also used the Pro to match different monitors to the same colour. I am satisfied with the result. It was more of a problem that one monitor only had an 8-bit frame table internally.
The box says "spyder x pro, the device says spyder x, the product label/seal says spyder x pro with serial number.

The Datacolor software recognises the monitors that are connected to the desktop and makes them available for calibration. This method allows calibration. After disconnecting the monitor from the PC, colour control by the Datacolor software is interrupted.
It works for me. It takes a few seconds to load the profile when starting up.
You can calibrate both systems or monitors with it. No matter whether Mac or PC.
Yes, that could be good. Do you know exactly what calibration is for? Smartphone and tablet are not calibrated...
I think so, I work with the Spyder X PRO on my 2019 MacBook Pro 16'' with Catalina 10.15.4.
