ASUS Hyper M.2 X16 Card
ASUS Hyper M.2 X16 Card
all motherboards supporting PCI-e 3.0. Beware to use a real fully 16x wired slot to avoid any issue. Every m2 ssd slot on the card require each 4 PCI-e lanes on the host’s motherboard. Not sure that the card is able to function properly if the host bus is smaller than 16 lanes.
Hi If the Asus ROG Stripe z490 supports bifurcation, it works. It is best to check the manual.
According to Asus, only the ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING is supported (https://www.asus.com/de/support/faq/1037507/#aB550) But maybe a bios update to support PCI Bifurcation / Hyper M.2 will help? Sorry, can't say anything more specific - I bought my motherboard based on compatibility with the Hyper M.2 card 🙈
Without Raid yes, the card has nothing to do with Raid. What you do here is simply install between 1 and 4 m.2 SSDs and plug the card into a free PCIe X16 slot. BUT: and this is the big problem: The board must support PCIe bifurcation in the desired number, i.e. with 2 SSDs it must be able to divide the slot into X8 & X8, with 4 SSDs into 4 times X4. If this is not possible, only one SSD can be used. Unfortunately, Intel customer chipsets do not support this feature, or only barely. So the Intel motherboards of the Z790, Z690 etc. series support a maximum of 2 x X8, sometimes not even that. With AMD it looks better, here there are many boards of the chipset series B550, X570, B650, X670 which support up to and including 4 x X4 PCIe Bidurcation. However, this must be clarified in the manual and on the page of the respective manufacturer, but for ASUS boards there is a list here: https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1037507/
According to the information from ASUS, your mainboard only supports one M.2 (X8) on PCIEX16(G5)_2 and a maximum of two M.2s (X8+X8) on PCIEX16(G5)_1. A RAID10 is unfortunately not possible.
Hi, it depends on the specific B550 motherboard. A detailed list of compatibility can be found here: https://www.asus.com/de/support/FAQ/1037507/#aB550
So far, it has only recognised 1 m.2 in a PCIe 3.
Provided your mainboard has bifurcation, i.e. you can set the PCIe divider at 16x to 4x4x4x4x in the BIOS. A few x99 workstation mainboards may have this, the consumer boards rather not. If you do not have bifurcation, your mainboard only recognises the first NVME. The old HP Z440 or Fujitsu workstations LGA2011-v3 socket supported this for example. I have tested this! If your mainboard does not support bifurcation, there is only the expensive alternative with its own controller: HighPoint SSD7505 for example. I hope I could help.
Only if the operating system can do a software raid. The question is whether your configuration makes sense. If you already have the disc, perhaps. If not yet: the larger discs are sometimes faster and have a larger cache. And one disc is easier to handle than several. We only bought the card because we didn't have a proper slot. But it works as advertised.
Hello, I actually also encountered controller detection problems, but I used it on a Dell 5820 and didn't always detect the disks, I assumed a DELL bios problem, I ended up installing it on an old DELL 5810 but only one disk, the Aqua Computer kryoM.2 works without problem on any computer but only controls 1 disk Good day to you
This card only supports PCIe 3.0 even if the motherboard and CPU both support PCIe 4.0. In the second PCIe slot (x8) you can only use 2 NVMe M.2 SSDs and each SSD will be able to use PCIe 3.0 x4 (assuming the motherboard supports bifurcation but that should be the case). See also https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1037507, although that document doesn't seem to be completely accurate.
Unfortunately not. Macs do not support Intel PCIe Lane at all. Asus Hyper M.2 x16 still needs it. Here are some of the PCIe blades that can be used on Mac Pro 5.1: - Aqua Computer kryoM.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 SSD adapter with passive cooler](https://www.galaxus.ch/fr/s1/product/aqua-computer-kryom2-pcie-30-x4-m2-adaptateur-ssd-avec-refroidisseur-passif-refroidissements-a-eau-p-6049027?supplier=406802) - OWC Accelsior 4M2 (1000GB, PCI express)](https://www.galaxus.ch/fr/s1/product/owc-accelsior-4m2-1000go-pci-express-ssd-12802491?supplier=406802) => https://www.galaxus.ch/Comparison/10037456-13744516
is this card vroc compatible? ASUS Hyper M.2 X16 Card and V.2 I don't know if it's the same thing???
Couldn't I tell you? How can I know?
Hello .... the adapter (ASUS Hyper M.2 X16 Card) is compatible only if only one graphics card is installed on the board.
Yes, you need to see if your mainboard is Raid array capable. If not, you will only be able to use 1 or 2 m.2 at a time.
As long as it supports bifurcation, yes. Otherwise no. I bought it for the x99 and can't use it. too bad.
