This model delivers sound quality that rivals that of a slim floorstanding speaker, thanks to its 180 mm (7 inch) mid-bass driver with a wood fiber diaphragm and SMC magnetic system, as well as its 29 mm Oberon dome tweeter. The comparatively large diaphragm area of the two drivers used in the Oberon 3 and their particularly wide dispersion characteristic make this possible. While similarly sized bookshelf speakers typically feature 165 mm woofers and 19 or 20 mm tweeters, the Oberon 3 employs a 180 mm mid-bass driver and a 29 mm tweeter. With about 15% more diaphragm area, the drivers can produce a certain sound pressure with significantly less excursion. As a result, the Oberon 3 sounds extremely dynamic while effortlessly presenting all types of music or film soundtracks in a way that is more pleasant to the ear.
