Why do many optical drives have a very, very small cache (4 MB or something like that, mostly) ? When volatile memory is really very cheap nowadays (about 5 Fr. for 1 GByte DDR4 RAM...) I would gladly pay this extra price if the access times were a lot shorter...

Supposedly the so-called ADs ('Archive Disc'), the successor to the Bluray discs with 300 to 1000 GBytes of storage space, should have been available on the market since 2015 (drives and blanks), but I haven't found anything like that on Digitec yet...does anyone know when (and if) these (at decent prices) can be bought here?

i am looking for a blueray drive. it should be able to burn discs, but if need be, i can do it without. important is that it is slot in; not with a drawer in which you put the disc but with a slot in which you pull it in/out. is there something like that here? Thanks
