World First Aid Day: be prepared for emergencies with our kits

09 September is International First Aid Day. Hand on heart: do you remember everything from your first aid course? And are you properly equipped for an emergency? We'll help you to help others.
First aid: This includes all life-saving measures carried out by civilians before the emergency services arrive. And they can make a decisive difference - according to doctors, around ten per cent of all accident fatalities could be saved if first aiders were to start immediate measures on the spot.
In order to draw attention to the importance of this topic, World First Aid Day has been held since 2000. Every year on 9 September, people are made aware that quick action can save lives. Perhaps this is an opportunity for you to check your emergency kit at home or in the car. Do you only have an incomplete first aid kit or none at all? Then you'll find plenty of first aid kits in the shop here:
They help you to help: By equipping you with gauze bandages, compresses, adhesive plasters and much more. This means you can not only treat wounds at the scene of the accident, but also take care of the subsequent care and medical treatment. The Care Plus set is particularly comprehensive. It even equips you for outdoor adventures. Editor Patrick Bardelli has already tested it for you
In addition to the right kit, you should also check your first aid knowledge. This is because gaps in your knowledge of the recovery position or chest compressions often mean that you hesitate too long in an emergency.
The statistics call SOS
This is shown by various studies and surveys. For example, in Germany, one in four people felt unable to administer first aid, in Switzerland it was one in two.

What do you think? Is your basic knowledge (still) sufficient to intervene in an emergency?

The competition has ended.
A survey by the ADAC also revealed that half of those surveyed had last completed a first aid course more than ten years ago. For most, this remains a one-off course during the driving licence course. Also alarming: only 66 per cent of those surveyed knew the standardised European emergency number 112. Do you also urgently need to improve your first aid knowledge? Courses are available in almost every city. On the Red Cross website, for example, you can find courses for Germany and Switzerland.
First aid made child's play
Children can and should also be introduced to the topic at an early age. A study has shown that even four-year-olds can intervene to save lives in the event of a cardiac arrest. You can find out more about this in the article by colleague Anna Sandner.
And perhaps just playing with the Playmobil ambulance will reduce the little ones' fear of contact.
