White kitchen – three reasons why white is the ideal kitchen colour
Off-white, eggshell, pure white – when it comes to decorating your kitchen, light colours are the way to go. Combining shades of white with a variety of surfaces creates subtle highlights.
Three (good) reasons why white should be the leading colour in your kitchen:
- Hygiene: Stains will show quickly on white surfaces. This makes it easy to react in time and keep a clean kitchen.
- Room size: Bright colours make a room look larger and friendlier. White furniture and accessories are especially helpful if your kitchen is old-fashioned and dark.
- Timelessness: White will never go out of fashion. If you ever lose interest in this colour, it’s easy to combine it with colourful dishes and decorative items. Placing white accessories on a colourful tablecloth will make your table look refreshingly new.
In a small kitchen
Small kitchens have more potential than you might think. Try multifunctional furniture and make use of vertical space with shelves. If you need an additional working surface, a serving trolley might be a good idea: You can wheel it to wherever you need it – in or outside the kitchen. Trolleys with shelves offer additional storage space on top.

In a large kitchen
If you’re not using your kitchen tools, they serves as decoration? A large dining table fits in your kitchen? Congratulations! With so much available space, your furnishing and decoration don’t have to be white. Large items that are subtle and elegant will look great in your kitchen.

When I’m not busy putting together home décor themes or planning marketing activities for Galaxus, I enjoy decorating my home with things I love and starting DIY projects I finish all too rarely. The inspiration I get comes from blogs, magazines and travels. My favourite home living styles: Nautical, Scandinavian and Nordic.
