Using a vase to hold your cooking utensils is always a great idea

Interior design is like a poster ad. It gently guides your gaze, enchanting you. Every detail is significant. Nothing’s random – not even in the kitchen.

Cooking spoons, whisks and spatulas are in constant use. Instead of shoving them messily in a drawer, home styling pros use creative solutions to create order and style. For example, they’ll repurpose a beautiful vase to serve as a container that enhances the kitchen decor. This keeps utensils to hand and the worktop tidy.

You can easily adopt this trick. Keep the following aspects in mind to find a vase that’ll work as an elegant and practical alternative to conventional utensil holders.

Height

The vase should be at least 15 cm high so that it won’t tip over with longer kitchen tools such as spatulas or slotted spoons. But don’t overdo it either. Over 30 cm is usually unnecessary and will prove impractical, with you having to fish around for your utensils. Stick to the right height, and your cooking gear will be right and hand and look stylish.

Height matters: the vase should be between 15 cm and 30 cm tall.

Wide opening

The opening of the vase should be large enough to hold a lot. But beware of going too wide. If you do, shorter items such as tongs or small spoons will disappear at the bottom.

Stability

A robust design ensures that everything stays in place when you take utensils out or put them in. So, look for a vase that’s heavy enough. Materials such as ceramic or metal will normally do the trick.

Easy cleaning

The material and shape must be easy to keep clean, as you’re bound to splatter sauce and grease when cooking. Glass isn’t the best choice, as it’s a greasy-fingerprint magnet.

Importantly, both the material and shape should be easy to clean.

Design

The vase must not only look chic, but also fit into your kitchen. It should be a swanky accent and give the room a real dose of personality. Just imagine the vase, filled with colourful cooking spoons, on your countertop. It’s bound to put you in a good mood!
