My DIY object for a tidy home

Are slips of paper and receipts flying around everywhere in your home? Are you looking to finally get rid of the paper chaos? This DIY solution is just what you’re looking for.

I like my home neat and tidy, but I’m constantly struggling to keep organised when it comes to my notes, receipts and business cards. And right after I’ve finished cleaning everything out again, I usually notice that I threw out the exact receipt I still need for returns or settlements. I’m in desperate need of a system, and one which also looks good.

What you need

Here’s how it works

Use a pen to mark the centre of the wooden lid. Drill a hole in the lid. The hole should have a slightly smaller diameter than the nail. Press the nail through the hole and fix the head of the nail in place with a bit of superglue.

Now, you can simply pin all your important invoices and bills on the nail. Sort out all invoices once a month. The important slips are stored in the box, and the rest is thrown out. Stay in charge of your mess of slips and only store what’s really essential. Every now and then, you will have to empty the box and file the important invoices in a folder. Until then, the box looks great in your home!
