This suitcase has spoiled me
Think you’ve found the perfect suitcase? I’m afraid you’re wrong. I’m pretty sure you need the ReNew Genius Cabin Trolley Smart by Pack Easy. It really is genius.
When one of our buyers asked me if I fancied testing a suitcase, I thought, «Sure, why not?» After all, I’ll be going on a trip sooner or later and I’ll need to bring luggage anyway. So I was sent the ReNew Genius Cabin Trolley Smart by Swiss manufacturer Pack Easy – and put it in a corner in my flat for the time being. I wasn’t too excited about it. After all, it’s just a suitcase. I didn’t expect it to do anything more than carry belongings – just like the last suitcase I tested.
The day before departure: the revelation
A few weeks later, the time had come: I was about to go on a trip to Italy. In other words, I needed to pack my new suitcase. Usually, this isn’t something I enjoy, but the ReNew Genius Cabin Trolley made it fun, as it’s full of surprises.
Before I even opened it, the first thing I noticed was the mysterious plastic flap on the back. Out of curiosity, I opened it and discovered an adjustable cup holder. What a nice surprise! I placed my water bottle in it and was happy to see it fitted perfectly. Little did I know that my suitcase would be transporting an iced coffee a few hours later.

Cup holder aside, which other cute gadgets does the ReNew Genius trolley suitcase have? Or was that it and I struck gold early on? I opened it and placed it on the floor in front of me. There’s a divider across both halves, secured by a zip. The left-hand side features two useful mesh pockets and the right-hand side has a single pocket stretching across the entire width. On top of this sits a credit-card-sized, sewn-on slip pocket, from which the warranty card was peeking out. This pocket is perfect for a card with your contact details. Just in case your luggage goes missing, as happened to me three years ago.
On the left-hand side, beneath the divider, there’s an X-strap and some storage space. On the right, alongside the X-strap, there’s also a small side pocket and two loose, elongated pockets that are perfect for shoes. It easily fits a pair of loafers, a pair of mules and my flip-flops. They’ve really thought this through. I love that.

What about the side pocket? It reveals a cable that comes with a USB-C and USB-A connector. Wow, this isn’t just a cabin trolley, it’s a real jack of all trades! While feeling a bit guilty for having so grossly underestimated the ReNew Genius for weeks on end, I trace the cable back with my fingers. Just above the TSA lock on the side of the suitcase, I spot a power symbol. And indeed, hidden beneath the rubber cover are a USB-A and a USB-C port, ready to be used to charge a phone or tablet. This means you can have a power bank inside and charge your devices from the outside, without having to open the suitcase.

And that’s not all this suitcase has to offer. It has one more trick up its sleeve – or rather, in its telescopic handle, which features small extendable barriers on the right and left that stop any additional bags you’ve hooked onto it from sliding off. And, as the icing on the cake of this already decadent treat, you can also fold out a smartphone holder. Like I said, this suitcase is full of surprises.

My verdict: I love it
If I had to find fault with the ReNew Genius Cabin Trolley Smart, there’s only one thing I could say: it’s spoiled me. I don’t think I could ever use any other suitcase again. My belongings and I have rarely travelled with such comfort and contentment.
With its 45-litre capacity, it offers plenty of (well-designed) storage space for a long weekend. It holds my drinks, charges my devices and, thanks to its four 360-degree casters, glides silently and with maximum flexibility right alongside me. The empty suitcase only weighs 2.9 kilogrammes. It’s nice and light – and it’s made from recycled polycarbonate. The ReNew Genius Cabin Trolley Smart is also available in silver and black. With dimensions of 38 × 54 × 21 centimetres, it’s accepted as a carry-on by most airlines. If you need more space, there are two larger models to choose from: 77 litres and 118 litres.
