This hits us unexpectedly: red lips and nails at Christmas
It can hardly have escaped your notice: year after year, red seems to be the "coolest and greatest" colour of all during the holidays. Even when it comes to beauty. Personally, I don't feel the same way. But if you want to get a taste of that mainstream Christmas coolness, we've got you covered.
Those who accept and appreciate Father Christmas as a trendsetter and influencer from the fashion and beauty scene know: A) red is not only the colour of love but also of the holidays and B) you always cut a good figure with red eye-catchers. In other words: With a red kissable mouth and or pretty painted nails, you can make any plain outfit "suitable for Christmas". At least that's what I've heard.
Optically, it looks best if you match the red tone of your nail polish to that of your lipstick - or vice versa. Red lips can also "fray" quickly after a few hours, which is why I always recommend using a lip base and a lip liner. If you want to create an additional barrier, you can also run a little concealer and a brush along the outside of the lip contour after applying the lipstick, making it slightly more precise.
In the "traditional" teachings of beauty it says: Emphasise either your eyes OR your mouth. Conclusion: With red lips, it's best to combine a simple black eyeliner and or a little mascara. Personally, I favour the motto: wear what you want, as much as you want and where you want. It's up to you to decide whether you want to give off the classic elfin appearance or whether you can be mistaken for a traffic light on the street. I definitely put myself in the "road signal" category.
