Diana Hildenbrand was baking cookies for her friends. Pregnant with twins, she wasn't able to eat the raw dough. If only there were no raw egg in the recipe. And so the idea was born. She wrote a few ingredients on a shopping list and sent her husband out to the supermarket.
A year and half later she founded «Spooning», the company behind edible raw cookie dough. After an appearance on the German version of «Dragon’s Den» (in German) on VOX, she soon found an investor.

Two years later, Diana was selling the overpriced nonsense online. Successfully. From time to time, the egg-free cookie dough is also available from Galaxus. And it's what I've got for elevenses today. Yes, I actually ordered dough for myself. It sounds like a silly joke. Sure, I had a deep desire to fatten myself up with some raw dough.
I'd only just got the tub in my hand when I saw it: it isn't ready to eat, you have to mix it up. It was a bit of a downer that dampened my excitement somewhat.
Diana, is this right? Really? I want my unhealthy snack now.
I had the extra margarine and water at home, but I didn't have a mixer. According to the manufacturer, you should be able to give the ingredients a really good mix with a fork.
Right then: I rolled my sleeves up, got my forearm muscles moving and stirred like crazy.
I didn't even need a lot of elbow grease. Stirring with a fork isn't a major challenge for an experienced risotto cook like me. It didn't take long for the powder to become a moderately firm mixture. The more you stir, the firmer the consistency. Two or three minutes of power stirring was enough for me. I just had to try it.
Damn, it was delicious. I spooned one portion after another into my mouth and was delighted that I'm not diabetic. This stuff is good. Although tasty, it's also high in calories. According to the packaging, 100 grams of dough contain 407 kcal, meaning that the tub contains 1,000 calories. And I'd already eaten half of it.
Not that I cared.
I didn't feel sick, but I passed on lunch that day. Once mixed, the dough should be eaten within a short period of time. I put it in the fridge. It'd be empty by tomorrow at the latest. Alternatively, you could also pop the dough in the oven as you would normally. Bake it at 180 degrees for seven to eight minutes and you'll have cookies.
The cookie dough passed the taste test. Raw, egg-free dough is really tasty. But, sadly, it's also really expensive. Too expensive. Sorry, Diana. From now on, I'd rather do what you did while you were pregnant. I'm going to write a few ingredients on my shopping list and grab them at Migros.
