These hairstyles are damaging to your hair

At second glance, some hairstyles might not be the ideal choice for your mane after all. I'll tell you which hairstyles you should steer clear of.
Strict bun or ponytail
When I want to get my hair out of my face quickly, I usually put it in a ponytail or bun. Although this is practical, it can lead to hair loss at the roots or even cause the entire roots to slide backwards. This is because pulling your hair back tightly puts a strain on your hair. This in turn weakens the roots, causing the hair to fall out at some point. If you have a long and thick mane, the weight of even a loosely tied tail can also cause tension. In addition, the hair is more susceptible to breakage at the point where you tie it due to the friction.
Better: Clip your front strands back with a small clip. If you still want to tie your hair all the way back, do so at the nape of your neck and use hair-friendly Invisibobbles or a scrunchie.
Hot irons: straight, curly or blow-dried
It's certainly not new to you: The heat from hair dryers, straighteners, curling irons and the like damages your hair. It loses moisture, becomes brittle and split ends also become noticeable on the thinning ends of your hair.
Better: Let your hair air dry whenever possible and avoid blow drying. You should also stay away from straighteners. If, for once, you do want to use a straightener, be sure to apply heat protection beforehand. Although it can't prevent hair damage, it can delay it by wrapping around the hair and acting as a kind of buffer.
Alternatively, you can create waves in your hair with braids. You can find out how to do this here:
Topsy ponytail
When tousling, you brush your hair against the grain. Although this technique increases volume, it also roughens your hair texture. This causes the hair scales to break off and makes your mane look dull and lacklustre.
Better:
A volumising paste conjures up beautiful volume at the roots without a tousle comb and is also much easier to detangle later.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
