This month’s beauty favourite: defined beach waves in no time

I’ve always loved beach waves, but only the real sea water has made my hair look cool and wavy – until today! Here’s how to achieve that on-trend beachy hair effect without having to spend time at the beach.

Summer hasn’t quite arrived and there’s no beach in sight, but that doesn’t mean I can’t wear my beach waves with pride. Especially now that I’ve figured out how to make them stay in shape without needing salt water or spending much time trying to get them into the right shape.
Beach wave sprays, often called salt sprays, give your hair more structure and volume. The aim is to make your hair look as if you came straight from the beach. To achieve this, you usually need to work tons of product into your hair while blow-drying it – but the chances are it won’t last longer than a few minutes. I’ve found a quick and easy way and a spray that delivers what it promises: L'Oréal's new «The Beach Wave Spray» from the Stylista series.

Minimum effort, maximum structure

Here’s how to achieve that undone and natural-looking beachy result. Before you go to bed:

Step 1: After washing your hair, spray the Beach Wave Spray into the lengths and brush your hair thoroughly. Don't forget to give the bottle a good shake before you begin.

Step 2: Blow-dry your hair until it’s almost dry.

Step 3: French braid your hair to make sure the waves begin at the roots. My braid never looks pretty, but that doesn't matter, because only my pillow gets to see it. Speaking of pillows, your next step is to go to sleep.

Step 4: Open your braid the next morning and open the curls with your fingers to create your preferred look. Your hair will straighten out more and more in the course of the day.

Step 5: Finish your look with a hair spray that doesn’t make your hair sticky.

L'Oréal recommend blow-drying your hair lightly, making two braids and blow-drying these . It's best to try both methods and see what works better for you.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
