These coffee tables are cute, clever and convenient

If you live in a rental flat, a large family or in the city centre, lack of space is all too familiar to you. Looking for furniture that solves this problem? Check out these clever and convenient solutions.

I've always lived in rental flats; in a shared flat first and now on my own. You might think living on your own means having loads of space, but, in fact, it's quite the opposite. After my flatmate moved out, I realised I own loads of stuff but don't have enough storage space. What to do? I got rid of s few things and resented my consumerism. But I'm still lacking storage space.

Good design is all about high-quality materials, sustainability and creating furniture for the modern lifestyle of a city dweller like myself who has limited space. In the future, every new item I buy will have to contribute to solving my storage problem. A coffee table, for instance, needs to be more than a surface to rest my glass of water on. What I'm looking for are clever two-in-one solutions. Just like these coffee tables that I found in our Galaxus range.

At first glance, you might not suspect these coffee tables to offer any storage space. But they do – cleverly hidden. The «Ronda» and «Tipton» have a flat surface that covers up a secret compartment. Twist the tabletop away and you’ll find space to store your bits and bobs.

Stackable and movable

Cluster tables are particularly clever and flexible: use them separately in different rooms or put them all together to create three times as much surface. And when you’re not using them, they only need as much space as the largest one alone while the others hide elegantly underneath it. The model «Club NY», for instance, lets you stack tables on top of each other, saving space on the floor.

On wheels

The advantage of furniture on wheels it that you can move it around without having to lift anything. And if your coffee table on wheel has drawers and compartments for storage, too, it's definitely a must-have.

A second level on a coffee table is both an elegant design touch and a practical side effect. Who can say no to twice as much storage space? Especially when it looks as beautiful as in the examples below. The «Shildon» model has a marble shelf while the «Hang out» coffee table features a hammock made of artificial leather.

Which one I'll go for? I haven't decided just yet. My current favourites are «Podia» and «Kenya». Didn’t find anything you like in my selection? Go to our full range of coffee tables.
