The portable baby bouncer for mobile parents?

My baby has finally fallen asleep in the pram. But as soon as the pram is still, it wakes up again. Annoying! The "Rockit Rocker" promises a solution to this problem, but it has its pitfalls.

I avoid carrying my child around in a baby carrier and choose the pushchair 98 per cent of the time when I go outside. Why is that? Because my back can hardly support the weight after a while. Because I find it uncomfortable. Because I feel restricted in my freedom of movement. Because my child wriggles around until it falls asleep. Because the child's warmth always gives me a heat attack. Because I don't want to carry the nappy bag around. And the most important reason: because I don't want to. Instead, I have to struggle with another phenomenon with the pram. The "the-pushchair-stands-still-and-the-baby-wakes-up" phenomenon. I have often experienced the following situations:

  • I'm standing at the checkout in the supermarket and need both hands to put the goods on the conveyor belt, pay and pack them. During this time, the pram stands still and the baby slowly opens its eyes.
  • I'm at the playground with two children. One has just fallen asleep in the pram and wants to be rocked a little, the other needs your full attention. Playtime fun versus a waking child
  • I'm sitting in a café with friends, the baby is asleep in the pram and wants to be rocked. The constant movement of the pram is not exactly relaxing. If there's not enough space in the café, it might even be parked in the entrance area. The cosy coffee break is over.
  • I go for a walk, meet a friend and get chatting. The car is stationary and the baby is getting restless.
  • It's dark outside and my child isn't sleeping. I put him in the pram and do the usual rounds around the flat. Finally asleep, I don't want to risk him waking up again straight away. So I rock the pram for a few more minutes instead of sitting comfortably on the sofa.

Award-winning baby bouncer

This is exactly where the "Rockit Rocker" product comes in, offering parents a new kind of support. It is a small, portable baby bouncer that gently rocks the sleeping baby in the pram without you having to do anything. [[product:10298517]]

It seems that the manufacturer has made a play on words with the name and design. The English word for "seesaw" is "rocker" and "Rockit" could have been derived from "rocket". It is therefore a small, rocking rocket that can be quickly and easily attached to the pushchair. To do this, you attach the universal buckle supplied to the bar of any pushchair, buggy or bike trailer.

As soon as you press the black button at the top, the rocket gently wobbles away - and with it the whole pram. Thanks to a rotating control at the bottom of the product, you can adjust the intensity of the rocking. The device switches itself off after 30 minutes. Press the button again to restart the rocket.

As the device is splash-proof, it is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. The motor is barely audible and does not disturb the child's sleep. The safe design of the product means it can be used from birth. Thanks to four AAA batteries (not included), the rocket runs for up to 60 hours. When not in use or as theft protection, you can remove it from the holder and put it in your pocket. This product has also won a number of awards. They are all listed on the manufacturer's page.

A product for mobile parents?

According to the manufacturer, the product "Rockit Rocker" is a must-have for mobile parents, which is handy and can be assembled and operated in no time at all.

A product for mobile parents?

Thanks to its size, the portable baby bouncer is always handy and can be attached to any pushchair thanks to the universal buckle. But for me, it's not a must-have - not even for mobile parents. Three reasons that speak against it for me:

Robustness:
Every time my daughter holds the "Rockit Rocker" in her hand, I gasp and tell her: "Don't drop it or it will break!" I certainly don't want to throw the product on the floor with any intent. I'm too afraid that it really won't work in the end. I hope that the rocket is more robust than I assume.

Disassembly:
Once the universal buckle is fitted, it is very difficult to remove. During disassembly, I lost a fingernail and gained two helpers. With a little force, it finally worked. This means that the product is not suitable for quickly changing from the pram to the buggy. I find that very impractical.

Purpose:
I tested the "Rockit Rocker" for three weeks. Because my little one (10 months) never drifted off into the realm of dreams in the pram during this time, I was unfortunately unable to try it out while she was asleep. But when awake, the rocket caused great amusement. Instead of getting the slightest bit tired, it just giggled happily to itself. For this reason, I doubt that the product will work at all for older babies and toddlers.

As the "the-pushchair-stays-still-and-the-baby-wakes-up" phenomenon sometimes happens to me too, the product definitely has its raison d'être. It may support parents and relieve them. However, for the reasons mentioned above, the product doesn't convince me personally enough to buy it myself.

Do you disagree? Then write us in the comments why it's your must-have product. If you don't want to miss any other tips, tricks and topics relating to babies and toddlers, follow me. Just press the black button on my profile. I look forward to your plan.
