Eggstravaganza! These egg cups are stylish little helpers for your breakfast table
by Pia Seidel
In our new fashion series, women reveal what characterises their style and what they wear to a special event. This month, it's all about New Year's Eve outfits.
"Show me your style" is the motto of our new fashion series, in which ladies show you their favourite outfits and talk about their personal style. They were asked for a mirror selfie for this series. We start with the New Year's Eve outfit. Imitation allowed...
What are you doing on New Year's Eve?
I'm celebrating with a colourful group of Swiss, Belgian and English people in a house in the Bern region.
Why this outfit?
I'm actually always casual when I'm out and about. That's why it's great to dress up a bit for once.
How would you describe your style?
As I said: rather casual. I usually turn up to work without make-up and in jeans. I like special, old pieces from the second-hand shop that I can combine with new clothes.
What piece rounds off your outfit?
My red dress.
A fashion no-go?
Thong flashes like in the 90s.
High heels or trainers?
Definitely sneakers. If I'm wearing high heels for any length of time, they look so miserable that they lose all appeal. [[image:18353462 "Caro",18383467 "Pia"]]
What are you doing on New Year's Eve?
I'm spending the evening with friends in Zurich. First with a cosy meal on the top floor of a friend's house, then with a view of the fireworks from the roof and later at ground level in a bar in district 4.
Why this outfit?
It's allowed to sparkle on this evening. So that I don't look like a disco ball, I'm going for small details like an embroidered pattern or a silver heel. Because it can get cold with a cropped top, I go for trousers. I like the fact that this model glistens slightly in the light, has a loose cut and moves with every step. That adds a little oomph to the look.
How would you describe your style?
Simple, detailed and chic.
What piece rounds off your outfit?
Oversized earrings.
A fashion no-go?
...doesn't exist in my eyes. Just bad styling and no sense of proportion.
High heels or trainers?
Neither: loafers.
What are you doing on New Year's Eve?
We'll probably have a cosy game night.
Why this outfit?
Because A) Disney and B) I own more homewear and pyjamas than regular clothes.
How would you describe your style?
Comfortable and always a little oversized. You never know if there's a burger restaurant around the corner.
What item rounds off your outfit?
My unicorn sleep mask.
A fashion no-go?
Perhaps this shouldn't come from someone who spends the New Year's Eve party in pyjamas, but: the foldable "Pliage" bags from Longchamp.
High heels or trainers?
Definitely sneakers. [[image:18353463 "Natalie",18383468 "Nadine Sue"]]
What are you doing on New Year's Eve?
I'm invited to dinner with friends. If you like, you can spontaneously go out after midnight.
How would I describe my style?
Classic-chic and sporty mixed.
What item rounds off your outfit?
Originally my shoes. In hindsight, it's more my belt. Because my blazer dress doesn't have a waist belt, I've repurposed the belt from my black woollen coat. The combination of materials makes it much more interesting at second glance.
A fashion no-go?
If you overdo it with jewellery. Go for either eye-catching earrings/studs, a necklace or several bracelets, but not all at once. Less is more!
High heels or trainers?
As I prefer flat shoes in everyday life, I'm even happier when I can pair high heels with a chic dress at a special event.
What are you doing on New Year's Eve?
My boyfriend and I are treating ourselves to a delicious dinner.
Why this outfit?
This dress makes me look elegant and feminine. A good contrast to my everyday outfits. I tend to walk around casually.
How would you describe your style?
Sporty.
What piece rounds off your outfit?
The red pumps add a touch of colour to your outfit.
A fashion no-go?
Moon boots.
High heels or sneakers?

What are you doing on New Year's Eve?
I'm taking my nearest and dearest out to dinner
.
Why this outfit?
Denims are my trademark. I upgrade them with pumps, a fancy top and XL earrings.
How would you describe your style?
Casual with a feminine touch.
What piece rounds off your outfit?
My dark blue flounce top.
A fashion no-go?
Doesn't exist in my opinion... Only (unnecessary) haters.
High heels or trainers?
Sneakers or ankle boots during the day. When going out, it can be mid-height high heels.
