Sneaker of the month October: Gel Lyte V asics

There's a story behind every shoe and our sneakerhead "ogmike" knows them all. A fairytale lesson about the "Gel Lyte V" from the asics brand.
Anima Sana in Corpore Sano
"A healthy soul in a healthy body" is the philosophy of the Japanese shoe manufacturer, which leads to the acronym ASICS and can be found on every shoe box. For the month of October, I have selected the Gel Lyte V from Asics. Perhaps a little surprising for those who have already read my story "Confessions of a sneakerhead" here on Galaxus.ch. However, as we have over 25 different brands of sneakers in our range and I can't always report on Jordans or Nikes, I decided to go for a Japanese this month as I have a weakness for Japanese culture, video games, anime, plastic figures and sushi.

So, and now for the sneaker of the month: The Asics Gel Lyte 5 in the colour Vanilla Creme, about which my friend, who posed for the photos, has a few words to say. She really likes the look of the shoe, as it is made of suede and carefully crafted. Despite the name Vanilla Creme, the colour is more of a fashionable rosé and goes well with her Apple Watch and Miaki jewellery (also purchased from Galaxus.ch). The shoe is very comfortable to wear as it has a comfortable inner shoe, similar to the Huarache model from Nike, and therefore feels as light as a sock. Added to this is the Gel Lyte V cushioning, which also contributes to running comfort.
The trendy pastel colour and golden details make these trainers a real eye-catcher this autumn! The shoe goes with almost any outfit and is suitable for the urban jungle, because you can also sprint if necessary. This is no coincidence, as the shoe has an unrivalled success story. It was designed in 1993 as a performance running shoe for marathons. The Gel Lyte 5 is the direct successor to the legendary Gel Lyte 3. You're thinking something's wrong and wondering what's wrong with the Gel Lyte 4? It doesn't exist, because 4 is an unlucky number in Japan! #UselessKnowledge

No sneaker of the month without an OG Mike story
In the freezing cold winter some time ago, I joined the queue in front of a well-known sneaker store in Niederdorf to get my hands on a very limited edition Asics Gel Lyte III. I did this despite the frosty temperatures and despite the fact that I was ill and therefore even stayed away from work. After about 4 hours and a frozen moustache, I realised that the guy in the group to my right was a work colleague and friend of my boss who hadn't spotted me yet. Of course, I didn't want to be seen and told off by him, so I thought about giving up and turning back, but I really wanted that shoe! The love for this shoe outweighed the fear of a warning or worse and I decided to stay. At 9 o'clock it was time, the door opened and I was able to get hold of a shoe in my size. Shortly after I had paid, I noticed someone actually trying on the shoe! What if the shoe didn't fit? Would the guy have spent a night queuing outside the shop in the cold for nothing? While I was still pondering, I realised that there were still a few available in size 47.5. I didn't hesitate for long and gave the shop assistant the 200 for the shoe, even though it was 3 sizes too big for me. That same evening I sold the shoe on eBay and had financed my own shoe with the profit, amortised the expenses and received an additional 80 bonus. At that moment, I thought about the guy who tried on the shoe. It would have been pretty stupid if he hadn't bought the shoe just because it didn't fit.
