Simon Stricker breaks the world record in the manual

Our skate blogger Simon Stricker has set the world record in the manual. He skated down the Bernina Pass at speeds of up to 40 km/h for 2.1 kilometres.
A few months ago, our skate blogger Simon Stricker told us about his plan. He wanted to break the manual record (previously 1.5 km). He doesn't yet know exactly how and whether he will achieve this. But Stricki said in spring that he absolutely had to try.
He did it, and how! Stricker balanced down the Bernina Pass at an average speed of 31 km/h for 4.08 minutes over 2.1 kilometres. Congratulations!

The trick
In the manual, instead of riding on all four wheels, you only ride on the rear two. The nose must never touch the ground. The trick only counts as standing if you land the front axle cleanly at the end. So if you stumble, fall off the board, fall back, that's it. You can see how to do this over 2.1 kilometres in the video.

The location
"The Bernina Pass is perfect for this project," says Stricki. "The road surface has to be relatively flat. But it also needs a constant gradient that is neither too steep nor too flat."
"The gradients were a challenge. Sometimes I was travelling at a snail's pace, then again much faster. The average speed was 31 km/h," says Stricker.
We have expanded our range of skates. Among other things with cool stuff from Skate.ch. Here long.

I love black humour, my small collection of jackets, Red Bull, furniture, lie-ins, British accents, dogs, laughing until I cry, Polaroid cameras, full ice-hockey stadiums and that moment when the red lamp lights up behind the right goal. Singing songs loudly and out of tune (and busting some matching moves) is also something I enjoy – as is strumming around on my guitar.
