Pinterest says: In 2026 you'll need (at least) one brooch
According to the Pinterest prediction, jewellery such as earrings or necklaces are now on hiatus for the time being. Instead, brooches are taking over the accessory field. We are happy to be infected by this trend.
It's finally here, the most wonderful time of the year. And I'm not talking about Christmas. No, of course I'm talking about the «Pinterest Predicts», the annual trend predictions from my favourite social media platform. What can I look forward to in 2026? Which trends would I rather steer clear of?
According to the analysed search queries, fashion will be ... well, let's say eclectic. For example, there's the brightly coloured gummy bear aesthetic «Gimme Gummy», but also the rather bourgeois-looking bookworm world of turtlenecks, blazers and ties, which Pinterest has very aptly christened «Poet Core». Lace remains a big topic, «Cool Blue» could be the colour of the year. However, one trend that particularly picks me up personally is centred on a very specific accessory.
Brooches are officially back
Yep, beautifully shaped pins, which we are otherwise more familiar with from the lapels of older ladies (like the Queen!), are making a giant generational leap. In 2026, they will replace other pieces of statement jewellery such as necklaces or earrings. They can appear as expressive individual pieces or in large groups. Their stage is no longer just the collars of coats or jackets, but can also be shirts, scarves and even trousers.
