Looking for a stylish loafer? Then pay attention to this detail
Loafers with a ruffled front are undoubtedly one of the most popular - and stylish - shoes of the season. You can shop the trend right here.
The fashion search engine Lyst has just analysed the fashion favourites of the last quarter. Two loafers have made it into the much-discussed Top Ten: «Le Loafer» by Saint Laurent and «Eel» by The Row. And the two have one decisive detail in common: the ruched front.
Ruched loafers - the shoe trend of the moment
In a ruched loafer, the leather is stitched around the toe area to create decorative pleats. This gives the shoe an exciting texture and makes it look subtly playful. Anyone who follows the fashion scene closely should not be surprised by its double entry into the Lyst Index: Loafers with gathers have been omnipresent in the fashion filter bubble in recent months.

Just like their classic siblings, ruched loafers are true all-rounders: you can style them both casually and elegantly. As socks are particularly popular with loafers these days, you can even wear them in winter - at least on mild days.
Favourable alternatives
The popular styles from Saint Laurent and The Row cost, you've probably guessed it, four-figure sums. However, there are at least as stylish ruffled loafers made from real leather for a fraction of these prices. I've picked out five pretty alternatives from the Galaxus range for you here.
