No drilling required – Tesa organiser for your kitchen
Tesa has had adhesive nails and screws in its range for a long time. Now it has shelves, knife blocks and paper holders for the kitchen too. It’s a great solution for rental properties where you can’t drill holes.
I hung up a magnetic knife holder with Tesa adhesive screws in my kitchen. «Is this going to work?» I thought to myself as I installed it. I quickly assumed that the knife holder would fall and crash onto the kitchen shelf within a week. Three years have since passed. The knife holder’s still up. And that’s despite the fact that I didn’t even use the perfectly fitting adhesive screws. We have over 330 different adhesive nails and hooks in our range. Where am I, an average person, supposed to start?
Tesa seems to have recognised this problem. The company is leaving the comfort zone of its self-adhesive core competence and supplying a whole set of modular kitchen organisers that can be attached to kitchen tiles using good old adhesive screws.
The handyman with two left hands
In addition to the adhesive hooks and the various modular parts, the set includes a small spirit level to make installation easier. Although, it didn’t help me much; the thing’s too imprecise and my work isn’t very accurate. Everything is slightly wonky. I did warn you.
In terms of securing it, it’s very simple. Fix the adhesive screw on the wall, install an adapter or a rail and then click on your chosen holders, racks or shelves.

Even someone like me can install the adhesive hooks. I temporarily attach the square tiles to the wall at the desired height using an adhesive strip. I then inject the glue under the plate through a small hole. Twelve hours later the screw is secure and I can install the adapter or railing.

Once installed, I can remove the adhesive screws without leaving any residue, but can’t reuse them. So be careful when you’re installing it. Above and below it, there should be enough space for a knife rail, wall roll holder or a herb pot. It’s better to try it out briefly by holding it up to the wall.
Once the adapters and railing have been installed, the organisers can be arranged as you see fit. It’s fun and it’s useful. If I need a lot of spices for cooking, I can put them on a shelf. Or if I need more kitchen paper, I can pop the roll holder closer to the work surface.

Plastic, metal and a little wood
The organisers themselves aren’t that great. They’re mostly made of plastic, only the railing cover is made of inexpensive bamboo wood and the roll holder and the large shelf are made of metal. This is probably only possible because an adhesive screw can hold up to five kilos. Plastic saves a lot of weight. And the design of the individual components is almost worse than the material.

It’s obvious that Tesa wants to appeal to the largest possible audience. In a kitchen in a rented apartment that’s already as average as possible, I sink into mediocrity. I’d at least like to see more colours besides eggshell white. Still, you can remove the adhesive screws with a glass ceramic scraper and some cleaning agent without leaving any residue, should you want to free yourself from this practical dreariness.
In a nutshell
Boring, but practical
Pro
- no drilling required
- modular construction brings variety
- holds 5 kg per adhesive «screw»
- simple installation
Contra
- spirit level is useless
- boring design
- too much plastic

When I flew the family nest over 15 years ago, I suddenly had to cook for myself. But it wasn’t long until this necessity became a virtue. Today, rattling those pots and pans is a fundamental part of my life. I’m a true foodie and devour everything from junk food to star-awarded cuisine. Literally. I eat way too fast.
