Meet the lamp that sweeps me off my feet

I have a weakness for lamps. I just can’t say no to them. Sure, my flat is bright enough to shine to the moon and back, but that doesn’t stop me from installing new lights. «Carrie» is yet another lamp I didn’t get because I needed it, but because I wanted it.

I’m drawn to globe-shaped lamps. I just can’t (and don’t want to 😉) resist them. My newest – one also one of my best ever – acquisitions is «Carrie», made by the Scandinavian manufacturer Menu. This isn’t only one of the most beautiful lamps I’ve ever possessed, it’s also one of the most flexible and mobile ones.

No cables, no worries

...and on.

After charging my new table lamp for three hours via USB, it shines bright during ten hours without needing a cable, giving me the freedom to place it wherever I want. The possibility of removing its handle means I can place it on my dining table instead of candles. Equipped with a dimmer, Carrie’s light is just as cosy and «hygge».

What I love most about this lamp is that I can hang it up on the wall by its handle. Rented flats rarely have sockets on the side walls. Quite often, it's complicated or forbidden to add sockets and having cables all along the walls just doesn't look good. This is a shame, as wall lamps create indirect light that can be beneficial in a TV room or bedroom.

The great minds behind this design

Carrie is the second item that leads me to the Danish «Norm Architects». They're also the designers of a poster with a plant motif that's hanging in my bedroom. They’re graphic designers, too? Exactly. For ten years now, the studio has been taking on architecture, interior design, design and graphics projects. The designers might work for a variety of clients, but they remain true to their style, focusing on a balanced between form and function.

Norm Architects' designs for Menu are characterised by clear lines and durable materials. The Carrie table lamp, made of powder-coated steel, has a soft silhouette with a matching globe and handle. Small details such as two metal screws are the only decorative elements. Carrie is available on Galaxus in four colours: white, black, dark green and bordeaux.
