Make your own sensory bag

A sensory bag turns your child into an explorer, painter and researcher at the same time. Long hours of play are guaranteed. You can also make them in different designs.

With a discovery bag, the little ones can play, experiment, colour, search and find. A recipe for success to put a smile on your children's faces. I'll show you how to create two sensory games and how you can expand them as you wish.

First of all, you need a leak-proof freezer bag (1 litre) and adhesive tape to reinforce the hold. You will also need hair gel, food colouring, a brand, shells, beads and a cotton bud.

Variant 1: Easter bunny

1. Draw an Easter bunny on the back of the freezer bag with a pen. Of course, you can also use any other motif. You can adapt it to the time of year and the children's interests.

2. Put half a bottle of hair gel in the bag and mix in two different food colours. Do not mix the colours in the bag yet. This allows the children to explore the colour effects themselves.

3. Close the bag and press the hair gel flat.

4. Frame the bag with tape by sticking it around the edges.

Variant 2: Sea guessing game

1. Put half a bottle of hair gel in a 1-litre freezer bag.

2. Dissolve a few drops of blue food colouring in the gel.

3. Hide shells, sea snails etc. in the blue "water".

4. Tie the tape around the edges to frame the sensory bag.

And what exactly happens to these bags now?

In the first variant, the children colour in the Easter bunny. To do this, they can move the colours around with their finger. Or they can use a cotton bud to draw something in. The colour can also be playfully changed by kneading the bag. There are no limits to the imagination. The second variant works as a search game in which the children can feel, count or line up the shells.

You can add all kinds of decorative elements to the hair gel as a base. Buttons, beads or Christmas sprinkles give each sensory bag a completely different play experience. Or you can replace the white hair gel with a transparent one, which makes a visual difference.

I am absolutely thrilled with the variety of these sensory bags and look forward to hearing about your experiences with them. I wish you and your family lots of fun!

My students, but also my own children, inspire me every day with their wild imaginations. I love to document the creative projects that come from them on my blog Fantasiewerk. I hope to inspire many moms and dads to do crafts with their children. [Fantasiewerk.ch](https://fantasiewerk.ch)
